The other night I hopped on facebook as I normally do and came across this picture that my Aunt Gladys had posted. I looked at it and realized that it was a picture of my family in Timp. cave when we came to Utah on vacation.

I have always heard stories about that trip but I was too young to remember anything about it. I was only 18 months old. Anyway, as I looked more closely, I realized that I was the baby in the photo that my dad was holding. When I saw this I burst into tears.

You see my parents got a divorce when I was only 5 years old. Most of that time my parents were not getting along at all and so there aren't very many family photos when I was a baby.

We moved from Virginia to Utah shortly after my parents split up and I have had very little contact with my Dad. Sometimes it feels like I have NEVER had a Dad because I was too young to really remember him living with us.

Growing up without a dad in your life does some crazy stuff to your self worth, but as I look at this picture and see the loving way that he is holding me and protecting me. I can know that he really WAS a part of my life and that he really did LOVE me.

That is why I love this photograph so much.

It helps me SEE all of this.

I will always cherish this picture.

If you have been lucky enough to have a Dad in your life make sure that you let him know how much you cherish him.

SO much healing can be done, if we will have the courage, to let those around us know

how much they are LOVED.

Meteor showers

Bridger wanted to see the meteor showers, so the bigen's,(the littles were in bed) Regan and I grabbed some blankets, pillows and headed for the front lawn. I of course had to document this occasion but it was not received well. The flash was making it so we were seeing stars just not the right stars. Sorry guys. I quit taking pictures and enjoyed just laying on my front lawn watching the showers and snuggling up to some of my favorite peeps. We oooo'ed and aaaaaah'ed and I learned a very valuable lesson.....taking pictures at night with the flash on while watching the stars is not a good combination...... DUH. Next time I wont bring the camera.

It's her senior year!!!!

She is attending Salem Hills High and going to MATC to get her EMT.

Her goal is to become a life flight nurse.

Bridger

Starting 8th grade.

He is taking guitar,orchestra and drama.

He wants to be a musician someday.

Mckray

Starting 4th grade.

He is always on the go and it is hard to get a good picture of him.

He is excited to learn about Utah History this year and do lots and lots of projects.

Journey

Starting 2nd grade.

Not only was it the first day of school but also her 8th birthday. She liked that she got to pass out birthday treats.

She also lost her first tooth the night before.

Pretty exciting stuff for this freckle face little girl.

Trek
Regan and I got to help with with our church's youth conference. The theme was past, present and future. We just helped out with the past, which was the pioneer trek part. There were stops along the trail representing different placing that the pioneers went through to get to S.L.C. Our spot was Fort Laramie/The Pony Express. We had letters to give the youth from the Stake Presidents.
I admire the Saints for all that they went through to come to Zion. What strong and courageous people they were. This trek reminded me that I need to have more faith in my Heavenly Father that I need to be more grateful for all that I have.

*the grotto (whoever left about 20 beer bottles up there can thank regan and i for packing them out for you. next time if you pack it in then pack it out and leave it better than you found it...it's just that simple)
*hit payson lakes and had a hot dog roast and watched the littles swim.

older and wiser

I am more at ease with myself at 38 than at any other age since i have been married.

I am finding a groove to my life and am WAY more excepting of myself than ever before and it really feels great.

I am sooooo loving being older......weird but true.

My sweet little momma threw a little birthday shin- dig for me at the red barn.

My sister and her family came and we ate and swam and had a good ol' time together.

Thank you mom and the rest of the fam for coming.

I love you all!
