It's that time of year again. Time for the Pinewood Derby. Mckray gets so excited for this. He designs the car and puts much thought into what his car will look like and how it is supposed to run. He is there every step of the way helping build the MASTERPIECE. Anything that he does he puts his whole heart into and gets so excited. He had high hopes for his car and the race.
Well, see the car in last place? That's Mckray's car and the bad part is not that it is in last place. The kicker is that it STOPPED right there and NEVER went further than that......YEP it NEVER crossed the finish line......not one time. All of the cars get a turn on each track and every time his car stopped at the bottom of the hill. Mckray has never had the fastest car at one of these events and he has never won but his car always crossed the finish line. Needless to say he was devastated. I have never seen such a sad little boy. Regan felt horrible as well. He did everything he could to fix whatever was making it stop but never figured out what was wrong.
Major Bummer indeed.
But.........important lessons were learned.
1.Sometimes things just don't work out the way that you planned them to or wanted them to. No matter how hard you try.

Tell Regan to get with the program. What kind of Dad builds a car that does not make it to the finish line? One of the most vivid memories I have of growing up is of the pinewood derby car that my Dad put some "special graphite" on the wheels and it never crossed the finish line. I was pretty devestated. But I survived and became much stonger because of it. McCray looks like he will too.
Oh my gosh. Same exact thing happened over here, too. Ken even flew to Utah to work on the boy's cars with his dad.
Only...to come in last, also.
It is kinda a funny thing once it is all over with. I showed Cole this post and he said, "Yup, same thing happened to me..."
So, too bad we don't live there or we would have made that trip to get some shaved ice with ya!
Oh, poor Mckray! That's to bad. Regan was telling me he hadn't figured out how to build a fast car yet.- wow, but now to finish! But I'm glad he got a big snow cone. He looks pretty happy with that.
Snow cones always save the day! What a cutie pie he is, and a winner too!
Bummer about the race. It definately looks like the snow cone was able make things better. I love his grin.
